Macarena Gaete: Refined Jewelry from the South of Los Andes.
Macarena Gaete Amenábar. She was born in Chile in spring 1981.
Her interest in Arts motivates her in year 2001 to study VISUAL ARTS in Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Her motivations during her studies take her to explore drawing, engraving and sculpture. At the end of her university years she participates in art exhibitions inside and outside the country.
Little by little she discovers in jewelry a world full of possibilities for expression. It is then when in year 2005 she enters the Escuela de Artes del Fuego to study JEWELRY.
During year 2007 she studies a special plan on EDUCATION with a specialty in Visual Arts and Tecnological Education. Since that moment she has combined Arts with Education teaching Visual Arts and technological Education besides extracurricular workshops in different schools.
Currently she is dedicated to education and design and production of a line of jewelry that is carefully elaborated by hand and inspired in pre-Columbian cultures and the Andean world.
This line of contemporary jewelry seeks to value and emphasize a big part of the Chilean identity and culture integrating unconventional materials that are found through the South of Los Andes.
